WAC | Seattle U volleyball defeats Big 12 opponent to open 2013 season
Redhawks start season with 3-0 sweep over Texas Tech

Seattle University began the regime of new coach James Finley with a big win, defeating Texas Tech 3-0 (25-20, 25-29, 25-22) at the Weber State Wildcat Tournament in Ogden, Utah.

The Redhawks, with Kerry Lane setting, outhit the Red Raiders .242-.143. Martina Samadan led all hitters with 12 kills and 2 errors on 22 attacks (.455); she also had a solo block, two block assists and two service aces.

Last season, Seattle U finished 9-19 (4-14 in WAC) with a final RPI of 227. Texas Tech was 14-18 (3-10 in the Big 12) with a respectable RPI of 96.


Tonight, the Redhawks face host Weber State, 3-2 winners against Grand Canyon earlier today.
